There are ways to relieve stress so it won’t leave you feeling mentally and physically exhausted.
Once we recognise the effect that stress has on our wellbeing, we must DECIDE whether we want to succumb to its power, or use it to create a new future. Stress is the message that we are out of alignment with our basic values, that we are not being fulfilled by our choices.
Stress is a wakeup call. When our buttons are being pushed we react in ways that are an attempt to recover our purpose.
How often to you hear people who have returned from a critical illness or catastrophe say later that it was the best thing that ever happened? This is because when faced with a crisis, people always focus on what is most important to them and rearrange their lives accordingly.
Challenges force us to examine what our highest priorities are and deliver us to our personal truth.
When we are feeling low and out of balance with the various aspects of life, it is wise to do something special that nurtures our spirit, to get back in touch with the activities that warm your soul. For example, if we are tired from a long day at work, it is energising to catch up with friends, read a book, or go for a long walk.
Some people spend every spare minute that they aren’t working by studying something they love such as writing their book, making jewellery or learning about investing. Anything that inspires us to see that there is more to life than the daily chores creates joy and purpose in our life. It is possible that this passion can eventually provide a new avenue for work that inspires a new future.
When you decide that you are doing your work because it benefits your family, you instantly feel empowered and grateful for your opportunity to be the provider. If, alternatively, you focus on blaming others for your dissatisfaction, the energy will slump from your body and your mind will get stuck in negativity.
Stress is a wake-up call to look within.
As challenging as it is to live with stress, it can become the catalyst for change within our lives, when we realise that enough is enough. We don’t want to live at such a frantic pace. We do want to have some enjoyment to balance out the endless responsibilities.
Being stressed gives us the opportunity to make new decisions for our well-being that otherwise may have coasted us to an early demise.
It is empowering to take control of positive, healthy expectations for your life. It is good for the soul to make choices based on a bigger picture of possibility, and it is great to decide how you want to feel regarding your experiences.
Stress helps us to decide that we want more from life.
Are you ready to create your reality or are you content to blame someone else for where you are at? Stress helps us to understand that every experience in life, even the most difficult situations give us an opportunity to learn something.
In our race for achievement and fulfilment we have forgotten some basics that will improve our likelihood of living long healthy lives.
